Ko is a lot like Iita - very friendly, a bit chlidish, always behaving himself. He is of excellent health and most of all - he's a typical, well built rhodesian ridgeback with some very, very nice progeny. His achievements are quite outstanding: Australia's first awarded Grand Champion and now sire to two Grand Champions with another two well on their way Obedience title (CD) Field Champion (lure coursing) Register of Merit (awarded from RRCI) All Breeds - Runner Up Best in Show (over 1000 entries), multi Class in Show (including Best Veteran in Show), multi Best in Group and multi Class in Group "National Dog" Dog of the Year (RRs) 1998 Hound Club - Runner Up Best in Show (under Di Jolly - Ravvar RRs), multi BOB, finalist in Hound of the Year for three years Royal Shows - twice BOB at Melbourne Royal, BOB at Brisbane (placed 1st or 2nd in his class 8 times from 10 appearances), BOB at Toowoomba Specialities - Best in Show under Janet Parker (UK), Best in Show under Rodney Leys (Aust), Best in Show under Alf Fitzgerald (Aust), Runner Up Best in Show under Sir Anthony Trollope, multi class in show, multi DCC and RDCC Two Best Gaited awards, ten Best Headed awards, three Best Footed awards, three Sire's Progeny awards, Most Successful Sire award Progeny - 17 Champions, five Best in Show (All Breeds) winners - three of them multi BIS (BIS Gr Ch Elangeni Elvis and BIS/BISS Gr Ch Bearstar Doulen Ko ET), four Best in Speciality Show winners - three of them multi BISS, Best Headed (multiple dogs/bitches), Best Gaited (multiple dogs/bitches), Best Ridged and Progeny classes (dog/bitch), Lure coursing - two Best in Field winners, multiple BOB winners Ko has excelled in the show ring and is one of the rare ridgies who love to hear the sound of applause and be the centre of attention in the ring. Ko's Royal record has been exceptional. At the Brisbane Royal in ten appearances Ko has taken six 1st places in class, three 2nd places and one 4th (in his last year at the Royal and being beaten by his son and grandson) - from his eight appearances as an adult he has taken Dog Challenge three times and Res Challenge three times (once to a son and once to a grandson). At Melbourne Royal Ko has twice gone Best of Breed on one occasion making the cut to the final eight with over 900 hounds competing. Ko has also been awarded #1 RR in Qld in 1997 (National Dog) and #1 RR in Australia in 1998 (National Dog & OzDog/Pal competitions). Ko could surely be said to be a legend in his own time. A top winning and top producing male who has made his mark in Australian ridgeback history through his own as well as his progeny's outstanding performance. Ko is a sweet tempered and proud dog with lots of attitude and ring prescence. As a youngster Ko performed well in obediance earning him the title companion dog (CD). In the show ring, Ko has had a magnificent carrer and he was the first RR in Australia to gain his Grand champion title. Ko has sired many champions and top winners through the years.
